FLACP Policy Platform

We are constantly reviewing issues and updating our policy platform.  Our goal is to address immediately issues that impact consumers.

✔Protect consumers from abusive debt collection practices and any loss of current protections from debt collectors, including debt buyers and debt settlement companies, under Florida and federal law

✔Protect consumers against forced arbitration in contracts

✔Advocate against predatory lending practices, including high cost loans, payday loans, and automobile title loans

✔Support standards for all paid tax preparers to protect consumers from incompetence and fraud by tax preparers

✔Protect consumers from auto fraud and any loss of protections provided by state and federal law

✔Maintain and enhance protections for homeowners in the origination, servicing, foreclosing and collecting of deficiencies of their home mortgages

✔Protect and enhance consumer protections under Florida’s consumer protection law, the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act

✔Seek relief for consumers from the Nuclear Cost Recovery requirement

✔Support advocacy and education around student loan debt

✔Support advocacy and education around consumer’s credit reporting issues

✔Support advocacy and education against identity theft

✔Protect the rights of ticket holders to live events

✔Protect the rights of residential tenants under Florida law, including those living in subsidized housing and student rentals

✔Support servicemembers rights in all consumer transactions
